Requests and messages

The text here will also show up on the front page. Use this to make a request (replacing the old message board) or to send a message to the DJ. Note that the current DJ might not always be watching for requests.

Nice on! Joe Satriani - Bass Solo. Which is actually performed by great bassist Stu Hamm :)

Rainbow's "The Temple Of The King" is balm to the soul.

No Rickter Scale this week, so all music played under my heading is random from the library :)

That explains it! When The Dreaming Tree came on, I thought "That doesn't sound like The Rickter Scale!"

I'll need to spin a track from them next week for confusion's sake!

Is it just my imagination, or does the Canvas Prog Hour go out of its way to feature lots of tracks with great drumming? Suits me, anyway!I've been meaning to ask this question for months, but I feel especially spoiled today: Vinnie Colaiuta (2), Morgan Berthet, Alan Hertz, Marco Minnemann (4), Steve Smith (6?!), Derek Cintron, Mike Portnoy ... and I may even have missed some names out! I think I'm in rhythm heaven! Thanks, Matt!

(Wipes eyes, blows nose.) Clare Torry's wordless song from "The Great Gig in the Sky" can still make me blub like a baby after all these years.

Canvas Prog Hour encore: Yep, I left out no less than Nick D'Virgilio, who plays drums on the track by "Stanley Snail".

Heh, just noticed this. Ok Twirlip, quick trivia for you. Do you know why Brian, Kevin, Mike & Nick called themselves Stanley Snail on that record? And yeah the CPH is a personal fave as it's the closest thing to the radio show I would do if so inclined as we obviously have a lot of the same tastes/faves. TRS though has been the best source of me learning about records that I never knew I needed before. :)

Yes, it's from "stainless nail". I dread to think what they might have made of "our souls" (a phrase Jon A uses a lot)! On learning of new records (yes, TRH does it most for me as well): I think the track from Herdzin/Colaiuta/Kubiszyn's "Kingdom of Ants" hadn't finished playing on CPH before I ordered the CD online. Oh, and Jerry Marotta is another well-known drumming name that got left off my CPH list.

I meant TRS, of course, not TRH - although both have anti-depressant and anti-suicidal properties! :)
